‘I really love to create illusions of a 3d surface using mainly flat colour, its a magical moment seeing my paintings pop everytime!’

Nickie Harrington (b.1978 Manchester, UK) is a visual artist based both in Dublin and Roscommon, Ireland. She has painted and created all of her life, but during the Covid lock down became especially focused on creating geometrical art, painting with such structure gave her a lot of comfort in such an anxious time.

Nickie has developed a highly refined hard edge, geometrical style, which she paints in a vibrant colorful palette. Her works are clearly influenced by Op Art as she strives to make her images jump off the canvas every time.

Self taught not only in art but in geometry too, Nickie’s paintings are executed with mathematical precision, every line and angle is carefully measured, scaled and drawn out before the painting process even begins. She mostly meticulously hand paints her hard edges but her process can also include masking and then painting each area, this is a very time consuming process and can take days, finally then, she uses a fine brush to make sure the sharpness of each line is absolutely perfect.

Nickie’s work has been described as mesmerizing and therapeutic by on lookers.
